After dinner, it was time for fireworks. Actually some of the first fireworks started around 4:00 p.m. here. But the majority started after it got dark, which was around 6:00 p.m.. The kids were excitedly trying to spot all the fireworks on the way home. It was pretty much nonstop the whole evening, but it got REALLY loud and continuous when it got closer to midnight. By 11:00 p.m., you couldn't hear any other sounds, not even your own voice talking. Just the fireworks outside. It was unbelievable to me that Alex and Jared slept right through it! It went on until at least 2:00 a.m.. It was quite an experience for Ricky, who stayed up and watched, as well as filmed the fireworks. The clip you see here was made by Ricky. Imagine that about 1000 times louder and non-stop all night long and you get the idea!
Today, we went to lunch at an Austrian restaurant. My aunt wanted to take Eric out to lunch, and of course everyone knows how much Eric does not care for Chinese food... Anyway, the food was excellent, and Ricky had his first five-course meal so he was all excited!

We then broke down and got some (okay a lot!) fireworks on the way home. We got the big one on the far right end of the table, the Rockets.

We lit them tonight after dinner. Alex said it was "sooooo coooool" and it was! The little ones were pretty much all the same, no matter what name it had, but they were fun nonetheless. The sparklers were a hit, cuz they get to actually hold them. Even Jared tried it! The best one though, was the Rockets. It was this HUGE thing, with 36 shots that went up above the 14-floor condo building behind us, and exploded mid air. It was so much fun (and loud) that Jared wanted to do it again! :D Again, Ricky filmed it, and you can see the clip here.

those ARE a lot of fireworks you bought and they were loud. I could hear them through the headset, and I wasn't even wearing it.
The first movie was new year's eve with OTHER people's fireworks around, Liz. The second one was ours, but that was only the one, the rockets. :p
Happy new year!! Great that you are this time in China :-)
