Tomorrow will be our last full day here in Shanghai. We leave Thursday afternoon for home. I didn't know before I came here that I would miss it and almost reluctant to go home. We have had a great time. The boys fitted in just fine and has learned a lot, if not Chinese exactly, but the culture and most of all, they got to spend lots of quality time with my parents. I thought it would be hard to live with my parents for 3 months, but they have been most tolerant of us, and tried their best to make our stay an interesting one. I'm very very grateful!
I've had great Chinese food, probably the best I'm going to have until the next time I visit China. Maybe next year! lol Never thought I'd say that either. But we're planning a trip to Japan and Singapore, possibly, next year with my friend Daisy, and Japan's sooo close, that I can't justify not coming back to Shanghai then. So why not? :D I'm going to miss my parents, my friends, the maid, and the hair salon! lol
We have a busy time ahead of us when we get home. Lots of house projects lined up already, and Eric and his Dad had knocked down everything in our master bath, so gotta get that started right away. And of course Montgomery Village's on our case about the trim of the house. (A follow-up note about that: they gave us an extension til May to finish.) The deck needs to be built in the backyard. The front doors need to be replaced, and the family room needs to be finished. Busy busy busy!
Ricky is having so much fun that he wants to stay another month! :D He's adjusting remarkably well, and has been willing to try everything, at least to try it. Much better than Eric's doing, but then again, if you know Eric, you'd hardly find that surprising. Ricky made a list of everything he wanted to bring home something for, and what he wanted to get them. VERY organized and I was most impressed! I think everyone will be very pleased with the gifts as well. Good choices, Rick!
There are things I'm happy about going home too of course. It'll be good to get back to the gym. Can't wait! I've been so lazy here. It'll be good to be back in my own house. I do so treasure my privacy. And it'll be good to see the friends I've left behind in the States. And start scrapbooking again. I'll have way too many pictures to scrap. Maybe it's time to start looking into digital scrapping, if it weren't for all the scrapbooking stuff I have already. lol
Anyway... so it's almost time to say goodbye. See everyone back at home!
