Thank goodness for pick-your-own farms! It's becoming a frequent outing for us to come to the farm and pick strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and apples, as the season goes by.
My favorite is blueberries. The strawberries are the farm can be a hit or miss, and blackberries and raspberries taste much better to me in jam or desserts than raw. And well, apples are apples. The boys love blueberries too, by the enthusiasm of their picking AND eating at the same time. lol (The farm does allow kids to eat them, just in case any of you wonder about that.) I remember when Alex was little, I was so worried about how clean the berries are, and would never let him eat off the plants. Well, guess with a 2nd child, just like most parents, we kinda let loose a little. Alex still doesn't eat off the plants much. Jared, however, is another story. After a while, he gave up on picking and putting the berries in the bucket. :D

We also got to pick some sour cherries, which were mostly too high for the boys to reach; and English peas, at which point they were all "picked-out" and I was the only one left picking. But the picking was a bit slim for that and I decided it was easier to buy peas than to pick them to de-shell them!
I made jars of blueberry jam last night. Yum! And today, guess I'll be working on some blueberry pies. Woohoo!
