Catching Up - Part III, Pu Dong

Today we went to Pu Dong. We went through the Sight Seeing Tunnel again, and landed at Oriental Pearl on the other side of the river, in Pu Dong. Pu, stands for Huang Pu river. and Dong means east. Shanghai used to be only developed in Pu Xi (Xi=west, which means the west side of Huang Pu River), and in the past 12, 15 years, Pu Dong has been a point of development. It's almost as important as Pu Xi now, with the bigger International airport, presence of all major banks, some big museums and of course Century Ave and Park.

Anyway, back to the Oriental Pearl. We went up to the second ball from the bottom and it was 263 meters off the ground. Nice birds eye view of the city!

history museum
But the bottom levels of the Oriental Pearl is much more interesting. There's a Shanghai History Museum there. It went through Shanghai from the Port-opening in 1843 to the city's liberation in 1949. A good portion of the exhibit includes waxed figures and another part, scaled models of the city. It was a very cool exhibit. Lots to see and learn of the past of Shanghai. Wonder why it stopped at 1949 though.

After the museum, we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. Yes, yet another American meal. Pizza Hut in Shanghai is VERY different from the States though. It's a much fancier restaurant, as mentioned in my BeiJing Blog. I got outvoted again. *exasperated sigh*

It being already after 14:00, we went to Century Park to kill time for the rest of the afternoon. The kids had a blast on the rides at the park, especially, you guessed it, bumper cars! Jared kept yelling "Let's bump into Ricky again, Daddy!"
