Reality TV, Chinese style

Apparently the reality tv bug has been caught by Chinese audiences. Not only have I been seeing all the American reality show dvds in the dvd stores, I've discovered that they have their own reality shows. Here are a few that I have found out about. I'm sure there are more. But unfortunately the websites are in Chinese. So for those of you who can read Chinese, lemme know what you think. And, uh, if you don't, guess you can look at the pictures. :)

好男儿 (The Ultimate Good Man) is a show that picks the, evidentally, best man in all of China. Wow, that's like being the best man of 1/4 of the world population! The winner was from Tibet. Guess Tibet is considered to be part of China by even their own. Maybe? He's kinda cute, I'll give him that!

A show similar to American Idol, is called Chinese Super Girl.

When there's a good man, there must also be a good woman, a good wife, in this case. I just saw an ad for the show tonight. Haven't found a link for it online though. If I find it, I'll update it later. It's a show for the best wife in all of China. Damn, why did I have to go and get my American citizenship? hehe

Quest USA, Da Tiao Zhan was a 12-episode, half-hour reality TV show produced in mandarin Chinese with English subtitles. It was filmed in the US. and here's what was said about the show: "It chronicles a cross-country journey of 4 energetic teams through New England, Amish country, the South and Miami Beach in their attempt to win the final victory. Each Chinese team represents a country or region (Mainland China/USA/Hong Kong/Taiwan). Different from most reality shows, this series shows not only competition, but more importantly collaboration among a team that has, in many situations, never tried to compose." I'd give you a link to the actual show, but the link never loaded up for me, so I'm not going to bother here.

And last, but certainly not least, the Donald's planning a Chinese version of his "Apprentice" show, called "Wise Man Take All". Eek! What will he think of next?! Let's just hope that he's not limiting the contestants to men only.
