Pretty garden

This is mainly a picture entry. I took the boys to walk around downstairs in the garden of the development where my parents live. It's very pretty and there're fish ponds, bridges and lots of greens, as well as a kid's playground. Shanghai's very clean and green now! I remember a time when it's all grey and the smog in the city can suffocate you. In the past 10 years, however, there's been a big improvement due to the vast planned planting of mature trees and gardens in the city. There're nice little parks and gardens all over the city. And since labor's cheap, you can always see cleaning people around, so the city is VERY clean. MUCH cleaner than, say, New York City.

Interesting tidbit, apparently every development in Shanghai is required to have a public exercise area that allows the residents to exercise for free. Here's a picture of the exercise area in this development. Cool idea, though a bit weird. I haven't seen that many people on the equipments here either.

Alex hadn't been to the playground since we got here and you'd think it was Christmas! Oh wait, it is. Anyway, he was so happy and crazy on it, it made all the time-outs and yelling worth it. well, almost.

Here are some of the pictures I took today, there are more on Flickr, as always, so check out the flickr link to the right.

I always thought that Shanghai was still ferry full off smog. Its good to know they make very much improvement

How nice the public exercise aria, but I think that people are to shy to do that in the open, because it feels not normal. If more people will use it, than it will be feeling normal.
