I know I usually post the funny stuff, but today, I had to post this, because I am so touched and feel so very loved...
Long background story first:
I had written two $9 checks for my boys' school class pictures. Class pictures are the only ones I order, as so far I have not seen any good school portraits for my kids. Not used to writing checks, I wrote them, sent them into school and forgot all about them. (Yes, I know, bad bad bad that I don't record checks in my checkbook, but with online banking, I rarely find the need to balance my checkbook.) Anyway, a month or so later, I decided to close the account that I wrote the checks out of, because my bank got taken over by a bigger bank, that has a bad reputation...) Not realizing that those checks were still not cashed, they bounced. I had forgotten all about them, until I got a letter from a collection agency in March. The letter invited me to explain myself, which I did, thru fax. I never heard back from the company, and with life being hectic, I forgot all about it. UNTIL, last Saturday, I got another letter from a law office, claiming that it has now taken over the collections. Except now, it wants $123.40 for each $9 check that bounced!
OMG!
I was so angry, I was in tears. Alex came over and asked what happened. I explained to him the ordeal, he was very upset as well. He walked away and came back right away, with his jar of money. He shoved it in front of me and said "take it."
That made me cry, a very different type of tears this time.
Jared came around and showered me with hugs and kisses after Alex walked away solemnly, very much the almost-teen that he is.
I'm so proud of my little guys!

You have such sweet boys!
Do not pay the amount in full though. Something weird is going on and I would simply write them a check for $18, but before that try to talk to someone from the old collection agency to see why they never got back in touch with you. It sounds like they are the ones that dropped the ball. Not you.
