This is our 7th year going to ZooBoo at the Baltimore Zoo. It seems to be getting better and better every year with the Halloween theme, but not so hot on the animal viewing parts. There are more "Trick-or-Treat" booths, and more activities for the kids than ever. Even more food vendors. A plus, since normally everyone has to get food from the Zoo, and it can get really crowded.
Though we didn't get to see as many animals as we did candies! The entire first half of the zoo had a lonesome monkey, a dozing owl, a fat prairie dog and a flock of bickering flamingoes. Yippeeee. Magnet, the resident polar bear, was clawing away on a blood-red chunk of ice. I'd hate to ask exactly what was in the ice block...
"Africa" was almost just as deserted. The Zebars were nowhere to be seen. The zoo is doing some renovation, so the entire section where the giraffes and all used to be were blocked off. I think they were elsewhere, but by the time we got around to that part, the kids were tired, cold, and sugared out! The chimpanzees were inside their "rain-forest"-esque habitat, and it stunk! So much so that Jared held his little nose and kept saying "Let's get outta here" in his nasal voice. It was quite amusing!
On the way home, Jared suddenly announces that he had to pee, as I'm leisurely driving along a stretch of 695 that doesn't have many exists and nor do I know where to find a bathroom, STAT! So, I pulled over onto the shoulder and handed him an empty water bottle. :) Ahh... to be a boy! He thought it was the funniest thing. Especially when Alex asked for some water later. He giggled and asked in his innocent-sounding little voice "Want my pee Alex?" LOL! The little bugger!
