Xmas celebrataion-ish thing at Alex's school

Alex's school has about 150 foreign students, from all over the world, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Chilli, Venezuela, Brazil, the US, Germany, Russia, Italy, and more, so we are told. Since Christmas is obviously a foreign holiday, they decided to have a Christmas celebration today for all the foreign students, where the kids perform on stage for their fellow schoolmates and their parents.

Now, when I was growing up, we had similar performances. And it was always the very mild singing and dancing crap. Nothing exciting. But, ahh.... Not this time, wouldn't you know it! Mind you there are still the normal boring stuff, but there was also rap singing (Anyone heard of Welcome to Detroit? I haven't), break dancing and well, Brittany Spears style dancing, where this Korean girl was practically poledancing on stage! Wow! 16 years, and this is what becomes of schools in China??? Or is it just because these are international students?

Alex's class did a song and dance called "You are my superstar." They were adorable! Alex got to be the lead. My oh-so-not-shy boy played air guitar and drums on stage as the lead, and danced like he actually knew how to dance. :D What was funny was that their poor teacher was dancing like crazy on the side of the stage so the kids can follow the moves as she dances. And boy, were they watching and following! They were cute though. One of the more interesting and fun performances of the event, not that I'm biased or anything!

The Kindergarten classes were definately the cutest! The oldest kindergarten class did a skit on Foreigners speaking Shanghaiese. That was sooo funny! They yelled out street-vendor Shanghai slangs that I hadn't heard in 20 years at least! It was a riot!

All in all, it was much more fun than what we used to get when I was little! No wonder parents are always saying,"when I was little..." I'll leave out the uphill bothways part though.
