Life, is pretty damned good in Shanghai, it seems.
My parents have a maid. For about $100US a month, the maid comes from 7.30am til about 7.30pm. (She does leave, for another job, for 3 hours in the middle of the day, but still...) She does EVERYTHING. From shopping for groceries, making meals, laundry, to getting a drink for anyone in the family, even buying stamps if asked to do so. I haven't had to come up with what's for dinner every night, or worry about the kids not have enough clothes to wear because laundry isn't done. Imagine that!
And today, I had a very nice facial done, at home! My mom has this person come to the house every other week for facial, for about $6US. It's quite a treat to be lying in bed worrying about nothing and getting your face massaged. She even massaged my ears! I'd show you how shiny and relaxed my ears are, but I'm too lazy to take a picture of them at the moment. Oh, and I learned that when you want to get a blackhead out, you should really wash your face with warm water first to open up the pores. Otherwise, you would force your pores open when they are closed, and get big ass pores. There, ya learn something from reading my blog. (this was the end of my initial blog of the day.)
Oh, and I thought I was done with my pampering blog of the day... BUT (you knew that was coming, right?) I got talked into getting my hair "looked at" tonight. So I went with my mom to get my "haircut", to which the stylist promised not to cut it short. (oh he didn't cut it short, in total length, but he did cut it thin, and LOTS of it. but that's not what I want to talk about here.) Anyway, here's what comes with the haircut. Tea, a wash, a massage of the sculp/head, a massage of the upper body (I even had my arms swirled around as part of the massage), and ear cleaning! All for a mere $15US! That's haircut and blowdry included of course. My mom got her hair washed and styled for $2US!!! No wonder she goes twice a week at least. I'm completely spoiled here. :D
If it wasn't for the smoking, the bad traffic, the incredible number of people all over the places, and the bad hospital/medical facilities, I'd live here. But alas, I can't wait to go home.
